So glad you’re here. Thanks for considering Pope PR!
Want to know more about my work experience and background?
all roads led here.
I moved around a lot as a kid (resiliency for the win!), mostly growing up in Louisiana and Texas with a stint in Australia when I was eight. I attended Washington & Lee University in Virginia, interning at NBC News HQ in summer 2011. After graduating magma cum laude in 2012 with a BA in Journalism, I started in the mailroom of renowned talent agency WME in New York City, and was soon promoted to an assistant. (I’m still a walking encyclopedia of all things pop culture!)
I ventured into the public relations industry in 2013, when I landed a new role and cut my teeth in PR at Edelman NY, a global communications agency. I worked primarily on the TJX (T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods) teams. With no prior hands-on PR experience, it was trial by fire. I jumped feet first into learning all the things at the junior level — think: press mailers, media lists, event planning and execution, long lead press previews, staffing photo shoots, gift guide outreach, editor relationship building, desksides, unboxing product, pitch writing, media kits, embargoes, media databases, media tracking, measurement and ROI…you name it.
I was soon recruited by a former Edelman coworker to join Derris, a boutique strategic communications agency. Over the next four years, I worked with consumer clients across a wide range of industries in the lifestyle, health & wellness, fashion, home & design, social good, food and parenting sectors. The common denominator? Great brands, smart people and compelling stories to tell. At the time, the approach was groundbreaking — a firm that could handle general brand + consumer press and more niche business + tech press. Think: the agility to pivot from a story about a new sports bra launch to a story about the latest round of investor funding; from a holiday press preview invite list to an industry “best of” award submission; from writing a brick-and-mortar opening strategy doc to drafting a founder op-ed. It was fast-paced, exhilarating, fun and an incredible era of career growth and learning. Account work included: Crate & Barrel, lululemon, Thrive Market, LOLA, Serena & Lily, SoulCycle, The Black Tux, Everytable, Yoobi, Cotopaxi and more.
In 2016, I married my now husband and we settled in Atlanta (I was still working remotely for my NYC agency role before WFH was a real thing!). But I missed the collaboration of an in-person team, so on to the next. I transitioned into a new role as Senior PR Coordinator at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in 2017, and was promoted to PR Manager soon after. I loved the nonprofit experience and meaningful opportunity to tell powerful stories, highlight resilient patient families & incredible care providers, develop inspiring content, and raise awareness with public health campaigns.
When my son was born with cystic fibrosis - a genetic condition affecting the lungs and other organs — in 2020, I took a career pause for our family. I soon started helping my husband with media outreach, social media content and overall strategy for his own growing business and began selective PR contracting from there. We now have three kids (+ two dogs!) and love the happy chaos in this season of life.
Now, I’m taking my expertise a step further with the launch of Pope PR. I still get an adrenaline rush from perfecting brand messaging and landing a great story. Here’s hoping we can work together and make PR magic happen! ️✨
